This month, hundreds of thousands of writers will sit down (or stand up, or sprawl out) and try to pump out 50,000 words in 30 days; and we call this masochism NaNoWriMo.
My Game Plan
To be honest, I’m going to be a NaNo Rebel this year. In other words, I won’t be starting a new draft of a novel. Instead, I’ll be revising the final two thirds of Pieces of Pink so that it can be proofed, formatted, and cleared for pre-order.
But don’t feel too disappointed. When I revise, I basically re-write.
So I’ll be in the trenches with the best of you!
However, while NaNoWriMo focuses on word count, I’m actually going to be gauging my month using scenes and chapters. Then again, it just so happens, I have 10 chapters left to re-write, and my chapters usually average in around 5,000 words. So if your math skills are as good as my calculator’s, you will have noticed that I have approximately 50,000 words to slay in order to meet my deadline this month.
In any event, while I wrap up the final stretch of the journey for Pieces of Pink, I thought it would be nice to join in with a community of writers, just for a little moral support. So if you’re working on a writing project and need a little boost, head on over to NaNoWriMo and join in on the fun!
Good luck with your novels, NaNoWriMo-ers!
